Infamous Icebreaker launch

Deb and I were there. We are at the other end on the ship on a pier that is out over the water. This launch has been on several TV shows. One was "When good things go bad." The back wash from the launch sprayed muddy water and debris (wood and concrete chunks) back up into the VIP crowd on the shore. Some people were hurt badly. It was a cool day and some women with their minks on looked like, well, drowned rats. All in all though, it was a beautiful launch and the last side launch. This ship, from Avondale Shipyard has out performed it's needs and has set some icebreaking records.
Comments:
Big ship slips the slip and rides the wave back on the peir, perhaps people pondered poorly the plight that was to come.
